A man has been charged with sexual violation after an alleged indecent assault in a rideshare car in Manawatū, police say.
The man in his 40s allegedly indecently assaulted another person in an incident on November 25, according to Palmerston North police.
Manawatū Detective Sergeant Carl Newton said anyonewith information about indecent behaviour in rideshare vehicles should contact officers.
“It is important to recognise that this is not a frequent occurrence and many people use rideshare options as a professional and safe service, without issue," he said.
"But that is not everyone’s experience and police would like to encourage anyone who has been affected by indecent behaviour to report it to us if they have not done so already."
People with information were urged to call 105.
