'I'm speechless' - Demi Lovato engaged to musician Jordan Lutes

December 18, 2023

It's official: Demi Lovato is engaged to her boyfriend, Jordan "Jutes" Lutes, after more than a year together.

The 31-year-old Sorry Not Sorry singer and the 31-year-old songwriter got engaged on Saturday in Los Angeles, a spokesperson for Lovato confirmed to People.

The former Disney Channel star first met Lutes in January of 2022 during a writing session for her song Substance.

According to People, Lutes, 26, proposed to Lovato in a "personal and intimate" moment with a pear-shaped diamond solitaire engagement ring created by New York luxury jewellery boutique Material Good.

After the proposal, the pair celebrated with family members at a restaurant in the city.

"I'm still speechless," Lovato wrote on Instagram the following day. "Last night was the best night of my life and I can't believe I get to marry the love of my life @jutesmusic."

The singer added: "My love, I'm beyond excited to marry you... every day I've spent with you has been a dream come true and I can't wait to love and cherish you forever. Here's to the rest of our lives. I love you, baby."

Lovato opened up about their relationship during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, revealing that she "assisted" with Lutes getting a tattoo.

"So my boyfriend was on tour with me, visiting and we had a tattoo artist there and he wanted to get a tattoo of a song title of mine called Forever for Me, which is a song I wrote about him," Lovato shared.

"And while he was getting tattooed, he was like, 'I want you to do it.'"

Lovato added: "I assisted, I wouldn't say that I gave the full tattoo, otherwise that would have looked really bad," they said with a laugh. "But I did a good portion of it and it turned out OK."

Lutes helped Lovato co-write a few of the songs featured on her eighth studio album.

"We worked really well together and we’re also just super in love," Lovato shared.

"It's amazing to find someone that you just laugh with and that you get to make music with. It's just so special."
