Six youths have been caught after allegedly fleeing from police in Hamilton overnight, crashing their vehicle which then caught fire.
The incident unfolded after police attempted to stop a vehicle on Powells Rd in Fairview Downs, Hamilton, about 3am.
The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began, Waikato Police Duty Inspector Hywel Jones said.
A short time later the fleeing vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle on Tramway Rd in Ruakura and caught fire.
The six occupants fled on foot and were found shortly after. Four of them were treated for injuries sustained in the crash. One of them was treated for a dog bite to their leg.
None of the injuries are life-threatening and no members of the public were injured, Jones said.
The serious crash unit is investigating and inquiries are ongoing.
