A man has been arrested after two robberies at stores in South Auckland left a worker in hospital.

The robberies took place on 4 November at a restaurant in Meadowlands and a liquor store in Clover Park on 2 December.

A worker was hospitalised following the Clover Park robbery and is “now recovering at home from his ordeal”, detective senior sergeant Rob Hunkin said.

While police investigated the two incidents, a man was taken into custody in Onehunga following an “unrelated” incident on Tuesday.

He is facing several charges related to the two robberies.

He appeared in the North Shore District Court today, where he was remanded in custody — and is due to reappear on 21 December.

“We hope the news that someone has now been put before the Court brings some reassurance to these victims after their ordeals,” Hunkin said.

“Police are continuing to make enquiries, and we cannot rule out further charges being laid.”
