An Auckland home has been struck by gunfire early this morning where two school-age children were sleeping.
At around 1.10am, Police said they were called by residents who had heard "a number of gunshots" at an address on Holland Avee in Point England.
Police attended and found several shattered windows at the property, as well as spent shell casings in the driveway.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said one person suffered a "minor injury" from a shard of broken glass.
"We are speaking to those affected and providing support, including to two school-age children who were sleeping in a bedroom when its windows were struck," Armstrong said.
"It was only a matter of luck that someone wasn’t seriously injured by this reckless act,” he said.
Armstrong said nobody was seriously injured but the residents are "understandably shaken."
Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in Holland Ave in the early hours of this morning.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police directly on 105 or through Crime Stoppers NZ.
