Inquiries are underway into reports of a New Zealander being killed in Gaza.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it had heard reports of a death this morning.
"We are aware of reports of the death of a New Zealand-Israeli citizen in Gaza. We are seeking further details."
It comes as heavy fighting continues across the territory.
According to the the Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory, the Palestinian death toll in Gaza has surpassed 17,700.
The ministry doesn't differentiate between civilian and combatant deaths.
About 1200 people died when Hamas militants stormed into southern Israel on October 7.
One New Zealand-born soldier was killed in action during the Hamas militant attack on Israel.
Adam Agmon spent his early years in Wellington while his Israeli parents supported youth within the local Jewish community, family friend Gidon Silverman said. The family moved back to Israel when Agmon was aged three or four.
Agmon, his brother Yahel and dad Oren all had a Silver Fern tattooed on their lower legs. He was 21.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said there are 100 New Zealanders registered on SafeTravel as being in Israel and nine registered as being in the occupied Palestinian territories.
