CCTV images have been released of an arson attack on a commercial building in Palmerston North in an attempt to identify the culprits.

Police are appealing for information about the fire which occurred around 2.30am on Thursday, November 30.

Detective Sergeant Shelley Ross said two people arrived at the building on Matipo Lane in a Toyota Echo with the number plate covered.

The passenger broke the window of the building and the driver then lit something on fire and threw it through the broken window.

Police say the fire on November 30 left the commercial building extensively damaged.

The driver tossed an accelerant on the fire, Ross said, and the passenger threw a large glass bottle containing liquid into the building.

Ross said the fire burned for about two hours before it was discovered, leaving the building extensively damaged.
