Driver dies after truck rolls, hits power pole in Epsom

A person has died in hospital following a crash in Epsom overnight.

A police spokesperson said the person was inside a light truck, which rolled on its side and hit a power pole on King George Ave, near Gillies Ave, at around 11pm.

"The driver and sole occupant was freed from the vehicle with the assistance of Fire and Emergency NZ," a statement read.

"They were taken to hospital in a critical condition, where they unfortunately passed away."

Police said the serious crash unit attended and inquiries are ongoing into the fatal incident.
