Good evening. It's been a day of meteor anticipation, a BBC presenter apologising for a rude gesture and a guilty verdict on a 28 year old murder.

1 Angela Blackmoore murder: Man and woman found guilty

The pair accused of murdering Angela Blackmoore in 1995 have been found guilty at the High Court in Christchurch.

After an almost five-week trial, it took the 12 person jury 14 hours of deliberation to return the guilty verdicts for David Hawken and Rebecca Wright-Meldrum.

Justice Rachel Dunningham thanked the jury for their service, noting it had been a difficult and long trial.

2 NZ 'best place in the world' to view meteor shower next week

It'll be all eyes skyward next week with a rare meteor shower expected across our night skies. Meteor showers are not uncommon, but Tuesday night's event promises to be unique.

New Zealand will be the best place in the world to see this celestial show, Otago University geologist professor James Scott said. "On December 12, between 8pm and 12.30 in the morning, New Zealand is in the prime place to see the first meteor shower associated with comet 46P."

3 BBC presenter apologises after rude gesture live on air

A BBC news anchor has apologised after being caught on camera giving the middle finger at the start of a programme.

At the end of the recognisable countdown to the BBC News bulletin at noon, Maryam Moshiri, one of the company’s chief presenters, was seen with her middle finger and eyebrows raised.

She quickly lowered her hand and began reading headlines in a composed manner.

A Levin woman celebrating her 105th birthday today says she doesn't have the secret to longevity – instead, she just lives each day.

Wynne Bullen joined Breakfast for a heartwarming interview this morning, alongside her son Chris and daughter-in-law Marilyn.

"Had my breakfast brought to me earlier," she said. "You know, everything done for me. I'm really spoilt."

5 Israel-Gaza conflict: Helen Clark critical of Winston Peters' call

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark says the new Government's stance on a ceasefire in the Middle East doesn't go far enough.

Foreign Minister Winston Peters yesterday spoke to a motion in Parliament calling on "all parties involved in the conflict — as well as countries with influence in the region — to take urgent steps towards establishing a ceasefire".

It's a shift in the Government's official position on a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza conflict.
