A body has been found in Christchurch's Avon River this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 11am, with a large area cordoned off by police. The incident is in the vicinity of Hagley Park.

"Cordons were put in place as police, including CIB and Forensic teams, conduct a scene examination," Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnson said in an update this afternoon.
"At this stage of the investigation, there is nothing to suggest the death is suspicious."
Hato Hone St John said it was notified of an incident on Riccarton Ave in Christchurch at 10.46am.
"We responded with one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one operations manager," a spokesperson said in a statement.
Johnson said police will carry out further inquiries over the coming days to understand the circumstances around the person's death.
Cordons are expected to be lifted in the coming hours.

Riccarton Ave runs adjacent to the Avon River, between Hagley Park and the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
