A teenage Black Power associate is among four people arrested amid a police crackdown on gang activity in Gisborne in recent days.
It comes after a Mongrel Mob gang member was shot on October 27.
An 18-year-old Black Power gang associate is due to be charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in connection with the shooting, Detective Sergeant Eric Hunter said.
He faces a further charge of discharging a firearm with intent to intimidate in relation to a series of shootings in Gisborne over October 26 and 27.
A .303 rifle linked to the shooting was seized this morning from a home connected to the Black Power gang.
The rifle is believed to have been stolen in a robbery several months prior.
Police inquiries into the incident and subsequent shootings are ongoing and more arrests are expected, Hunter said.
It comes after a police operation saw two Mongrel Mob members and an associate arrested, and firearms and ammunition seized, following searches of homes across town in recent days.
A 29-year-old patched Mongrel Mob member was arrested, and two rifles and shotgun ammunition were seized, following a search of a home early on Tuesday.
The gang member is due to appear in the Gisborne District Court on Monday, December 11 charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Meanwhile, a wanted Mongrel Mob member was arrested following another search at a home in Gisborne yesterday.
The 21-year-old is due to appear in court today charged with aggravated burglary with a firearm, wounding with intent to injure, discharging a firearm with intent, threatening to kill, threatening to cause grievous bodily harm, and demanding with intent to steal, along with other existing charges.
A female gang associate at the home is due to appear in court today charged with possession of methamphetamine and breaching court bail conditions.
"Police work incredibly hard to keep our communities safe, and we will continue to make every effort to disrupt gang activity and hold offenders to account," Hunter said.
