Person dies in water-related incident at Auckland beach

One person has died and another has been injured following a water-related incident at Auckland's Rothesay Bay Beach this evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 5.02pm, a police spokesperson told 1News.

A police spokesperson confirmed to 1News this evening that one person had died following the incident.

"Our thoughts are with their family," police said.

One person was taken to North Shore Hospital in a moderate condition.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said three ambulances attended the scene.

The death will be referred to the coroner.
