A woman is on the run after stealing a van with 10,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts inside from a petrol station in Sydney.

The van had been parked on Pennant Hills Rd in Carlingford when the suspect drove off with the sweet treats around 4am yesterday, the NSW Police Force said on social media.

The woman was described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, in her early 30s, with long black or brown hair.

She was wearing dark clothing and carrying a white handbag.

The freshly-baked delights were destined for stores in Newcastle.

The stolen loot was worth around AU$40,000 (NZ$43,000).
