Incoming prime minister Christopher Luxon won’t say who the “middle child’ is in his three-way coalition – but says he is “excited” to get to work for the country.

The National Party leader today signed the coalition deal between ACT and New Zealand First, signalling the first three-way coalition government is ready to form.

Under the arrangement, both David Seymour and Winston Peters will serve half a term as deputy prime minster.

Speaking to Seven Sharp, Luxon said both leaders were “magnanimous” when choosing who should serve their 18-month term first.

When asked who the middle child is out of the three-party leaders, Luxon said he “couldn’t possibly comment”.

“I’ve actually come to like both of them over the course of these negotiations. They’re different personalities, but they’re going to add a lot of value to our government, and I’m excited to be working with them.”

After being sworn in as prime minister, Luxon said his priority is signing off a 100-day action plan.

“That will be the government's key initiative when Parliament opens.”

He said there’s “a lot of legislation” to repeal, along with getting new legislation introduced to Parliament.

Luxon was also asked if he is going to be heading to any Black Friday sales this weekend.

For his response, along with revealing which Seven Sharp presenter he would like to decorate his new office, watch the video above.
