Firefighters contain large blaze in North Canterbury

Firefighters are battling a large vegetation fire in Loburn, North Canterbury this afternoon.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said crews were called at 3.35pm. The fire is approximately 400 metres by 100 metres in size, but has been contained.

Crews from Rangiora, Sefton, Woodend and Amberley are in attendance.

FENZ said it was likely some appliances would no longer be needed soon.
