One Dunedin family have had Christmas come early, with the Highlanders flying in to hand-deliver them some new 2024 jerseys.
Sam Gilbert was on board the plane that flew into Mainland Hanger at Dunedin Airport and gifted local police officer Hayden Wingfiled and his three sons with the new jerseys.
"New jerseys are always exciting, it's cool it's got the Highlanders colours and a few touches which make it awesome," Gilbert said.
Wingfiled has been a fan for years - his greatest memory is the 2015 Super Rugby final where the Highlanders won their first and only title.
"Drove through to the final in 2015 with a good mate and our dads. We drove up on Saturday and back on the Sunday.
"One of the best moments of my life singing the Highlanders song on the ferry with thousands of other supporters."
