Aus brewery hiring $270-an-hour 'chief beer tasting officer'

A Queensland brewery is offering the opportunity of a lifetime for beer enthusiasts – as a chief beer tasting officer.

Heads of Noosa Brewing Company on the Sunshine Coast is hiring a taste-tester at "the happiest place on Earth".

The job offers a salary of AU$1000 (NZ$1083.40) for four hours of work – or AU$250 (NZ$270.90) an hour – plus a free lunch and two cartons of every 2024 Heads of Noosa limited release, according to the Heads of Noosa website.

The tasting officer’s responsibilities will include taste-testing the “aroma, flavour, and overall brew quality” of the company’s limited-release beer and offering feedback on whether it meets the brewery’s standards.

But casual beer lovers whose go-to bevvy is the happy hour special need not apply.

The successful applicant will have a “passion for beer that rivals your love for anything else in life”, and a "refined palate that can distinguish the finest nuances of malt and hops".
