Driver thought missing found injured in Queenstown crash

A woman who went missing while driving from Dunedin to Queenstown yesterday afternoon is believed to have been injured in a crash earlier today, police say.

Police earlier said Colleen was last known to be in the Cromwell area, which she was unfamiliar with.

At around 11.30am this morning, police found her vehicle crashed on Gibbston Highway in Queenstown-Lakes District.

The woman had sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Lakes Hospital.

"Police would like to thank members of the public who provided information to assist in locating her," a spokesperson said.

The road is currently blocked, and diversions are in place.

"Motorists are advised to take an alternate route."
