National has put its plans for ministerial positions to New Zealand First and ACT for consideration, 1News understands.

Sources close to negotiations say there has not yet been a sign off on ministerial positions, but that is the next step in the process.

Once the parties agree, they will need to take the agreements back to party organisations.

NZ First leader Winston Peters and ACT leader David Seymour.

1News understands National has already liaised with its board, allowing for that part of the process to progress with haste.

ACT has kept its caucus abreast of developments, but final sign off from its board is a requirement to finalise the deal.

Insiders are hopeful something will be done this week but say it’s unlikely to be done today or tomorrow.

Christopher Luxon spoke to media about negotiations this afternoon.
