A group of workers have been praised for their swift disruption of an alleged burglary at Massey University in Albany yesterday.
Workers discovered the intruders and called police just before 4pm on Sunday.
Waitematā East Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Todd Moore-Carter said police arrived and swiftly apprehended two offenders who were hiding within the building.
“We believe the offenders were there to steal copper from the building following similar reports in recent weeks,” he said.
Inspector Moore-Carter said the workers provided excellent information that allowed police to catch the offenders.
Inquiries are ongoing to determine if any of the incidents are linked.
A 37-year-old man will appear in North Shore District Court today charged with burglary, and a 30-year-old woman charged with burglary will appear in the North Shore District Court on Friday.
