A two-vehicle crash has blocked State Highway 1 in Manawatū just north of Sanson.
Police said emergency services are in attendance. The collision was reported at 11.35am.
"Initial indications are that there have been serious injuries," a police spokesperson said.
"The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
"Traffic diversions are in place, and motorists should expect delays."

Waka Kotahi NZTA reported a road closure due to a "serious incident" in the area, just south of the RNZAF Base Okahea.
"A serious incident has been reported to emergency sercvices south of Fagan Rd and the road is now CLOSED," the agency wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
"Please avoid the area or use an alternate route."
