One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Canterbury this evening.

Police say they were called to the scene on Main South Rd, in Selwyn, around 5.40pm.

The road remains closed while the serious crash unit investigate the incident.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
