A person's death is being treated as "unexplained" after their body was found in the water off Waiheke Island on Wednesday.
The body was found by a member of the public at around 9.14am near Ostend.
A post-mortem has since taken place, and police are "continuing to treat the death as unexplained".
A burnt-out vehicle was also found 14km away on Man O War Bay Rd.
"Police are also investigating this," a spokesperson said.

"Locals can expect to see an increased police presence on the island as our inquiries continue."
Police are now asking anyone who was in the area earlier this week who may have seen something to call 105.
