Person dies in two-vehicle crash on SH1 north of Tūrangi

One person has died after a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 north of Tūrangi last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6.45pm, police said.

One person was in a critical condition and died at the scene.

A second person suffered moderate injuries.

WorkSafe and the serious crash unit were advised.

Part of SH1 was closed but reopened at around 12.30am.
