National Party MP Chris Bishop will be hoping the rest of his day is a marked improvement on his morning, which he called a "debacle" on social media.
Bishop, who in the election wrestled the Hutt South electorate back off Ginny Andersen, was due to meet with National leader Christopher Luxon and other National MPs at a central Auckland hotel today as coalition discussions continue.

A 1News camera caught Bishop arriving at the hotel on an e-scooter, but his post on social media revealed the backstory.
"Debacle of a morning so far," he wrote.
"Woke up and couldn't find a cab.
"Decided to walk to nearby cafe and get a coffee while waiting for Uber. Couldn’t find a cafe. Eventually got to Sky City. No cabs on rank.
"Nearest Uber was ten minutes away and was now running late. Decided to get a scooter.

"For some reason I thought I could have a satchel across me, phone to work out where I was going, hold coffee and also drive the scooter. This didn’t go well. Fell off scooter on Wellesley St. Coffee everywhere, mainly down my front. Ditched coffee.
"All was well until scooter ran out of battery. Found new scooter then it struggled to get up the hill. Made it in the end. Late."
Bishop appeared to arrive at the hotel otherwise safe and well and with a small smile on his face.
This morning, National's deputy leader Nicola Willis said coalition negotiations were in the "final stages", and leader Christopher Luxon said "great progress" had been made.
"Today is a day where we're going to spend this morning with the National team just processing our conversations from yesterday."
