Woman seriously injured after 20m fall down Bay of Plenty cliff

A woman has been injured after falling down a cliff in the Bay of Plenty this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident about 9.15am.

"Police were alerted to an incident where a woman had fallen down a 20m cliff while on a walking track in Bowentown," a police spokesperson said.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said three fire crews responded to the incident.

The patient was extracted and handed over to ambulance, the spokesperson said.

St John confirmed the woman was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.
