Inquiries after body found near Waiheke Island

Police are making inquiries after a body was found near Waiheke Island this morning.

A member of the public first notified police at 9.14am about a body in the water.

Police said the report of the body was near the shore at Ostend.

"An investigation into the circumstances of the death is underway and at this stage it is being treated as unexplained."
