Police made six arrests and issued more than 70 fines during a Killer Beez gang event in South Auckland over the weekend.

Police were monitoring the gang's presence in the Ramarama area ahead of a pre-planned event on November 10, 11 and 12.

Commander Inspector Joe Hunter said police had clear behavioural expectations and that gang members were informed police would respond to any issues.

"Those arrested and summonsed are facing a range of charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, breach of bail, possession of methamphetamine and failing to give details.

"Notably, one of the members attending was arrested for the same bail breach offence on Saturday and then again on Sunday."

In total, 117 vehicles were stopped by police across the weekend as part of the event. Five vehicles were impounded and six drivers had their licenses suspended.

"Three of those five impounded vehicles had previously failed to stop for police," said Hunter.

Seventy-one infringements were issued for behaviour, ranging from driving without a license to riding a motorcycle without a helmet.

Hunter said the number of arrests and infringements issued reiterated police concerns with these types of events.

"We hope this sends a clear message to both the gangs and the wider community that police do not tolerate unlawful behaviour and will work hard to hold people to account."

Police will be reviewing information and evidence gather, which may lead to further arrests and charges.
