A homicide investigation has been launched after a man was found dead at a home in Auckland's Ellerslie yesterday evening.
Officers were called to the Celtic Crescent property at around 7.58pm, after reports a 66-year-old man was found "unresponsive" at the home by a family member.
Beard said police would like to hear from anyone who has seen or heard from the man's wife, Mei Han Chong.
The 67-year-old was last seen at the home shared by the couple, who lived alone, over the weekend.
Police say she could also be a victim.
She is described as being "of Asian descent, small in stature and has short dark grey hair and will likely be wearing glasses".
Chong was reportedly last seen at the family home over the weekend, and members of the public are being told to contact police if they sight her or the vehicle.
A scene examination is taking place at the home and is "expected to go on into tomorrow". A post-mortem exam of the man is also expected to be completed tomorrow.
A scene guard is also in place, "and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while our inquiries continue".
Police are also appealing for any sightings of the couple's blue Kia Rio that was last seen at the property. The vehicle's registration reads NJN927.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them on 105, quoting file number 231106/8053.
