Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) said it responded to over 40 “probable fireworks-related” queries during Guy Fawkes last night.
They also said that over the entire Guy Fawkes period - November 2-5 - they responded to 64 fireworks-related queries.
In the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough, a house and car caught alight, with FENZ saying the blazes were “possibly caused by fireworks”.

Three fire crews were sent to the scene around 11.30 pm, where they found the house's upper deck was on fire, as well as a car.
The fire has since been extinguished.
According to RNZ, Crews were also sent to a number of vegetation fires that are possibly fireworks-related.
Police responded to a number of callouts overnight but could not confirm if they were fireworks-related.
They are currently investigating to determine if any of the fires are linked.
