One Masterton local has been sewing signs of positivity for her community over the past two years in the hopes of uplifting the town.
Elaine Hurndell had been making and putting up the signs in secret, with the locals only recently discovering her secret.
Some of her 30 works of art reads "don't overthink it", "just shine your light for everybody to see" and "don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle".
"I just feel Masterton needed to be uplifted," Hurndell told 1News.
The memorial maker was originally inspired by country singer Glen Campbell's 1969 song Try a Little Kindness.
Despite only sometimes asking for permission to put up the signs, they can be found all over the town.
A sign outside the courthouse reads "you are more worthy than you have been told".
Shortly before 1News arrived to meet Hurndell, some of her signs were vandalised.
"So I've remade it all in the last 48 hours."
Despite the setback, Hurndell thinks it's just another lesson to share.
"This happened to me and what did I do about it? I got bigger, better and louder."
Hurndell's since branched out from signs to a monument of an angel "'cause people need a place to go to reflect that's not a church", she explained.
The angel, named Grace, comes complete with a letterbox.
"It means they can write all their hopes and dreams, thoughts and feelings."
Hurndell is on a mission – and hopes her positivity will spread to other towns in New Zealand.
"We need more love in this world and less hatred."
