New Zealand First party leader Winston Peters lambasted media during a 40-minute speech in Port Waikato this afternoon, labelling Q+A presenter Jack Tame a "left-wing shill" and a "moron".
Peters was there to endorse NZ First candidate Casey Costello.
Following her speech, Peters spoke on a multitude of topics, regularly accusing media outlets who were present of not giving his party or campaign coverage ahead of the October 14 election.
In one instance, he began speaking about the "glum" atmosphere at NZ First's base on election night when he targeted Tame and other political reporters.
"We just won. We knew on election night that we held all the cards, but we had to sit around and listen to all these political experts like Jack Tame and every other left-wing shill payed for by the taxpayer," he said to boos and groans from the crowd.
"Then [you] have the affront of you to say 'would you like to come onto my show?'"

Later in his speech, he began discussing "race-blind politics" when he focused his attention back on reporters in the room.
"By the way, they [media] bang away about the Government and if it'll have nobody [that is] Pasifika on it.
"I'm sitting here thinking 'listen, Jack Tame you moron'," Peters said to cheers and laughter from the crowd.
"We're Pasifika – we're also half Irish and half Scots," he joked to the largely Caucasian audience.

Peters previously butted heads with Tame during an October 1 interview on Q+A, when he alluded to altering funding towards public broadcasting after a heated conversation.
"You've made a case for us to make sure we get the broadcasting portfolio after this election," he said towards the end of the interview.
"Is that a threat, Mr Peters?" Tame replied.
"That's not a threat – it's a promise that you're going to have an operation that's much more improved than it is now."
