A Christchurch dog groomer has taken home the top prize at a Wellington canine competition.
Dozens of fluffy pooches were on show being primped, clipped and shorn in front of a large audience and a panel of judges at the Wellington Groomalong competition today.
The National Groomers Association of New Zealand says the three-day event has grown immensely since it began around 30 years ago.
The top prize this year went to Emma Case-Peters and her dog Boots.
"This year, the competition is absolutely incredible and the quality of the work out there is outstanding," event organiser Angela Anderson told 1News.
"But I must say, Emma Case-Peters – she is a hard one to beat with those poodles. She is just a ninja."
Part of Case-Peters' prize is a flight to Las Vegas to take part in an international dog grooming competition.
