Four youths have been arrested after fleeing from the police at high-speed in Auckland overnight.
Inspector Wayne Kitcher said around 3.18am, police have signalled for the driver of a vehicle travelling on Dominion Rd, Mount Roskill, to stop.
"Upon noticing Police, one of the vehicles has left the area at high speed, while the second vehicle followed in the same direction.
"The Police Eagle helicopter has continued to track both vehicles and provided commentary, guiding staff in to locate the occupants of one vehicle as they decamped," he said.
Kitcher said the driver could be seen doing multiple burnouts, including at intersections.
The second vehicle was then found in Mount Roskill. It had slowed before "taking off at excessive speed" and onto the motorway, heading through Auckland City and into Counties Manukau.
"The vehicle eventually stopped, after being spiked twice, on the Southern Motorway near Rosehill. The two occupants have attempted to escape on foot but were caught by staff."
