A Sydney wing surfer got the surprise of his life when a humpback whale jumped out of the water, knocking him off his board on Wednesday morning.
Jason Breen was out for his usual wing surf when out of the blue a baby whale breached.
The humpback landed on Breen, who was then dragged under water, getting tangled in his ankle rope.
Luckily, he resurfaced when the rope snapped. The kite surfer miraculously avoided any major injuries.
“It didn't have any barnacles, so I wasn't ripped to pieces,” he told 9News.
Breen managed to capture the incredible ordeal on his GoPro. Footage also captured the moment from a distance.
Wing surfing was derived from kite surfing. It uses a held wing style sail to capture the wind and generate power.
