Police have found a paddle in the search for a woman who allegedly stole a kayak from a Kapiti Coast property and went missing after entering the water.
The woman is believed to Michaela Leger, 29, from Ōtaki.
Leger allegedly stole the kayak from a Raumati property and was seen entering the water on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said this morning that a kayak paddle had been found by a search team.
"It is unclear as to whether it is the paddle Ms Leger was last seen with," police said.
"No other items have been located.
"SAR [Search and Rescue] are reviewing the search effort so far and ensuring all inquiries are completed."
The woman was wearing a long-sleeved red top and grey trackpants, and carrying a white and pink bag.
"Police are extremely concerned for Michaela and are working to support her whānau," a spokesperson said yesterday.
