An 11-year-old terminally-ill boy from Texas has been made an honorary Chicago police officer.
Davarjaye Daniel, who prefers to be called "DJ", is battling terminal brain and spine cancer and is on a mission to be sworn in by hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the US.
DJ's love of law enforcement led his Houston-based family to help him on this quest.
Chicago's Police Department will be the 795th agency.
DJ's father Theodis Daniel told CBS News that the law enforcement ceremonies had been helping him out since he was diagnosed at age 6.
"We've been at it for a while. We're into the dangerous time of five years, but he's doing good."
Chicago Police patrolman Mike Brandy told CBS News that DJ's attitude was "infectious".
"You can see how spunky he is, and he's making everybody laugh. And just seeing grown men up there crying in our department, it's just a great feeling."
DJ plans to join as many law enforcement agencies as possible.
