Police are asking for the public's help to find nine offenders after a smash and grab in Napier overnight.

Detective Glen Yule said they have concerns for one of the offenders who could be seriously injured.

"We have concerns for one of the youths, who has cut his lower right leg while kicking the front door.

"The amount of blood left at the scene indicates he suffered a serious injury which would present as an obvious limp."

Yule said police were called to the scene at Big Barrel liquor store on Carlyle St around 3.31am this morning.

He said the nine youths broke into the store by smashing through the front door by hand.

"After causing extensive damage to the store, the group has taken large amounts of alcohol and vape products, before leaving in four vehicles.

"This is a huge, unnecessary cost to the business and has been upsetting for the business owner."

Yule said a scene examination was carried out this morning and inquiries are underway to find those responsible.

Police would like to hear from anyone who either recognises the people pictured or has further information.
