Motorists worked together to fight a scrub fire sparked by a burning vehicle on State Highway 6 near Glenhope this afternoon.
Emergency services were notified about 5.30pm of a van on fire on the shoulder of the Kohatu-Kawatiri Highway in Tasman.
A police spokesperson said that everyone in the van is out and appears to be uninjured.

Motorists at the scene worked together to get the van fire under control.
Once it spread to the bush, they used extinguishers and shovels to stop it catching further.

Traffic control is being arranged, but police advise motorists to avoid travelling this route if they can or expect delays.
