Police have confirmed the body found in the grassland near the Hobsonville Road off-ramp in West Harbour on October 13 is missing West Auckland man Dylan Barford.
The father of two was reported missing on September 23.
Police investigation teams are working with Barford's family and his death has been referred to the Coroner.
He was captured on CCTV footage in the vicinity of the Westgate Shopping Centre around 12.30am on Sunday, September 24.
Police want to speak to the drivers and occupants of three vehicles that were sighted travelling north on State Highway 16 between State Highway 18 and Brigham Creek Rd in the early hours of that day.
Police believe a person "likely to be Dylan was seen in the vicinity of this portion of the motorway a short time beforehand".
The first vehicle, described as silver, was seen travelling along the road around 4.27am that morning.

"The vehicle is seen slowing down on the motorway and eventually stops on the shoulder of the motorway, backing onto Costco Northwest, Westgate."
Police said the car stopped for four minutes before leaving at 4.32am.
The second vehicle, a dark sedan, was spotted "briefly braking on the motorway" around 4.29am and passed the parked vehicle before continuing north.

A white sedan was also seen "heavily braking" while travelling north and passing the same parked vehicle.
