The man believed to be responsible for the death of a Miramar woman in her 60s has been found dead in Hong Kong.
The body of Irene Katsougiannis, 62, was found in her Totara Rd home by a concerned friend on Monday afternoon.
A homicide investigation was soon launched.
Police said this evening the person believed to be responsible for Katsougiannis' death was a man known to her who left the country on Sunday.
"He has since died in Hong Kong, and local police are investigating the circumstances," a police spokesperson said.
"The investigation into what happened to Irene is progressing well, and the scene examination is expected to be completed by the weekend."
The police, who also named Katsougiannis this evening, said it extended its condolences to her family and the wider community "as they deal with this tragedy".
A post mortem was completed today and police said it will continue to make inquiries into the full circumstances that led to Katsougiannis' death. These would be reported to the coroner.
