A number of new National Party MPs arrived at the Beehive today, reporting for duty in the new job.

New National Party arrivals at Parliament this morning included Dan Bidois (who was also an MP between 2018 and 2020), Angee Nicholas, Carlos Cheung, Tim Costley, Grant McCallum, Emma Chatterton and Agnes Loheni (also an MP from 2019 to 2020).

Nicholas won't be counting her chickens just yet. Her position remains on a knife edge, with the Te Atatū candidate just 30 votes ahead of Labour's Phil Twyford with special votes still to be counted.

But other new arrivals are ready to roll their sleeves up.

"Excited to be here," new Ōtaki MP Costley said.

"Really looking forward to just getting stuck in and learning heaps and being part of this team."

The party's deputy leader Nicola Willis said: "These really talented people are gonna make a massive contribution.

"It's just wonderful to be welcoming these brand-new MPs into Parliament."

Asked for her advice to the newcomers, Willis urged them to be themselves.

"And keep in your heart the people you are here to serve," she said.

Cheung, who upset Labour's Michael Wood in Mt Roskill, said he was "looking forward to it".

McCallum said he's "bloody excited" and the group agreed it's "a privilege".

"We're gonna bring it," McCallum said.
