Two men have been charged after a man was found dead in the middle of a Northland street on Thursday.
A homicide investigation was launched after the body of 24-year-old Teina Pickering was found on Peter Snell Rd, in Ruakākā, around 4am on October 12.
A 28-year-old man was arrested this morning, and is due to appear in the Whangārei District Court tomorrow charged with weapons and firearms-related offences.
A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday. He appeared in the Whangārei District Court on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, Detective Inspector Al Symonds said.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in court on Tuesday.
The investigation into Pickering's death is ongoing, Symonds said.
"While we are not seeking anyone else at this time, further charges are likely."
