Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on Southern Motorway

A person has died after being struck by a car on Auckland's Southern Motorway this morning.

The crash blocked northbound lanes of the motorway at Ōtāhuhu for several hours this morning.

Police said the crash occurred around 5.20am.

The motorway was closed northbound from East Tamaki Rd to Princes St. Waka Kotahi said at 10am the road was open again.

The serious crash unit is investigating and the driver is assisting police with their inquiries.
