Police investigators have completed their scene examination after a man's body was found in the middle of a street in Ruakākā this morning.
Emergency services were notified just after 4am today, and found the body of a 24-year-old man lying on Peter Snell Road. A homicide investigation was subsequently launched.
Detective Inspector Al Symonds said this afternoon inquiries would continue into the evening.
He said a post mortem and formal identification of the victim would be carried out over the coming days.
"Police will likely be able to release more details about the man after these processes have been completed," Symonds said.
"While there are a number of details Police are unable to comment on at this stage, we again are reassuring the Ruakākā community that the investigation team is committed to holding those responsible to account.
"We will continue to proactively provide updates as the investigation allows," he said.
Symonds earlier said investigators believe the incident is isolated and there is no danger to the public.
Cordons have since been lifted on Peter Snell Road and traffic diversions are no longer in place.
Investigators would like to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Peter Snell Road area in the early hours of Thursday morning, or who has information that could assist the investigation.
