A mammoth $24.25 million Powerball First Division jackpot won by a single ticket over the weekend has today been claimed.
The winning ticket for Saturday's draw was sold at Woolworths Wainuiomata, in Lower Hutt.
The $24.25 million prize is made up of $24 million from Powerball First Division and $250,000 from Lotto First Division.
Lotto NZ said it's "delighted for the winner" and pleased to have the prize safely claimed.
"We don’t have any further details to give at this stage, but we will have more to share over the next few days," Lotto NZ's head of corporate communications, Lucy Fullarton, said in a statement.
It marks the twelfth Powerball win of 2023, and the third largest prize to be claimed this year.
The highest Powerball jackpot win this year was $37m back in August and was sold to a player in Paraparaumu.
