Men found in possession of LSD, firearm in Invercargill

Two men were found in possession of drugs and a firearm following a police traffic stop yesterday afternoon in Invercargill.

Police received a report around 2.50pm on Sunday of a firearm being brought out at a St Andrews Street address following a fight.

Later on, police said a vehicle "was seen by staff travelling in the Windsor area and signalled to stop.

"The two men were taken into custody at the scene after LSD and cannabis were allegedly located in the vehicle."

A subsequent search warrant was then executed at their address, police locating more LSD and cannabis as well as a firearm.

The men have bee charged with serious drugs and firearms offences.

They are due to reappear in Invercargill District Court on October 24, police adding that further charges were likely.
