Driver dies after crashing into stationary truck in Tūrangi

One person has died after crashing into a stationary truck in Tūrangi, south of Taupō, yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Atirau Rd around 11.13pm.

The driver died at the scene.

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the deceased," police said in a statement.

The road is open for traffic, and the serious crash unit is investigating.
