One person is dead after a crash in the Wellington region town of Ōtaki last night.

Police were alerted to the two-vehicle crash on Mill Rd about 8.10pm.

"Police can now advise that one person has died," a spokesperson said this morning.

"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances."
