One person has died following a workplace incident in Mount Maunganui today.
The incident occurred at Ballance Agri Nutrients Mount Maunganui operations site on Hewletts Road around 12pm.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed the fatality to 1News.
"With deep sadness, we can confirm that this incident has resulted in a fatality.
"Our hearts go out to our team member’s whanau, friends, and colleagues.
"We are working closely with Worksafe and police, who are on site, as they review the incident, and we hope to know more soon."
Police were called to the site just before midday.
"Sadly, one person died at the scene. The matter will be referred to WorkSafe and the Coroner," a police spokesperson said.
Ballance Agri Nutrients Mount Maunganu worksite is closed until further notice.
WorkSafe has been notified and is making initial enquiries into today’s fatality at Ballance Agri-Nutrients in Mt Maunganui.
